Area Wide Paving is headquartered just 20 minutes down I-30 in Sulphur Springs — Mount Pleasant is our neighbor. Owner Paul Pogue on every jobsite, quoted in 24 hours, built to last decades.
Mount Pleasant isn't a market we "serve" — it's a community we're part of. Our Sulphur Springs headquarters is just 20 minutes west on I-30, and our crews are paving in Titus County on a near-daily basis. When you call Area Wide, you're calling a neighbor.
Owner Paul Pogue personally supervises every Mt. Pleasant project. He's been paving driveways, parking lots, and private roads across Titus County for over 20 years. No project managers. No subcontractors. Paul is on your property from the first grade check to the final roller pass.
Whether it's a residential driveway off Highway 271, a commercial lot near the NTCC campus, a church parking lot along Jefferson Avenue, or an industrial surface out by the Pilgrim's corridor — we treat every Mt. Pleasant job like it's in our own neighborhood. Because it is.
Titus County shares the same heavy clay soil profile as the rest of Northeast Texas — expansive when wet, cracked and shifting when dry. Contractors from outside the region routinely underestimate what this soil does to a paving job. We don't — because we've been building on it for two decades.
Every Mt. Pleasant project starts below the surface with our proven four-step foundation process:
Sub-base compaction — We excavate to stable material, then compact in controlled lifts with vibratory rollers. The base determines everything. We don't rush it.
Proper grading — Every surface gets a minimum 2% slope to prevent water pooling. Standing water is the fastest way to destroy asphalt in Northeast Texas — we eliminate it at the design stage.
Hot-mix asphalt (HMA) — We use commercial-grade HMA produced at 300°F+ for maximum density and bond strength. This is highway-grade material — the same mix TxDOT specifies for state roads. No cold-patch shortcuts.
Pothole resistance — The combination of proper compaction, engineered drainage, and the right mix design produces a surface that handles Titus County's freeze-thaw cycles and 100°F+ summers without cracking apart. Our installations last 15–20 years.
Paul has paved hundreds of projects across Titus County. He knows every soil condition, every drainage pattern, every challenge this ground throws at you. That's not something you can learn from a manual.
Every service below is available to Mt. Pleasant homeowners, businesses, churches, schools, and property managers. Paul quotes within 24 hours and most projects are completed in 1–3 days.
Call Paul. Describe your project. He'll be on your property — usually within 24 hours — to measure, check the base, and hand you a written, itemized quote. Not a ballpark. Not a range. A real number with real line items.
We're not a franchise. We don't have a sales team. We're a local crew run by an owner who's been paving Titus County since before most of the competition existed. Low overhead means better prices for Mt. Pleasant customers.
